Pastor Calvin Willis

Pastor Calvin D. Willis is a passionate preacher, community leader, and transformational teacher whose life and ministry are dedicated to restoring faith, hope, and love in the lives of others. Originally from Toronto, Ontario, Pastor Willis now serves as the Interim Pastor of Lucasville United Baptist Church, one of Nova Scotia’s historic African Nova Scotian congregations.

With over two decades of ministry experience, Pastor Willis has faithfully served in various pastoral and community leadership roles across Canada. His ministry emphasizes spiritual renewal, social justice, and the power of unity in Christ. He is a respected voice within the African United Baptist Association, bridging faith and community development while championing intergenerational and intercultural understanding.

Pastor Willis holds an undergraduate degree in Economics and Law from Carleton University, a Biblical Studies Diploma from Charis Bible College, and is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity and Certification in Counselling at Acadia Divinity College. His academic and pastoral work integrates theology, psychology, and practical leadership — forming a holistic approach to ministry that empowers individuals and strengthens communities.

Throughout his journey, Pastor Willis has led initiatives that promote healing, discipleship, and community transformation. His messages blend biblical depth with contemporary relevance, engaging audiences through rhythmic storytelling, cultural awareness, and heartfelt authenticity. Whether preaching from the pulpit, facilitating leadership workshops, or serving at community events, Pastor Willis carries a deep conviction that faith must be lived out through service and love.

Known for his compassion and visionary leadership, Pastor Willis continues to build bridges between the church and the wider community — fostering partnerships, mentoring young leaders, and advocating for racial equity and social restoration within the church and society.

He is married to Phyllis (Sparks) Bennett, and together they share a blended family of two daughters and five grandchildren. Pastor Willis often says, “Faith, hope, and love — and the greatest of these is love.”
